Thursday July 27, 2011

I took some boxes up to the school today. After carrying my first load up, the curriculum lady tells me the elevator is working again. That was like telling a fat kid there's another piece of cake with his name on it. I hadn't brought much because I'm trying to take and do a little at a time. Josh is going to take off at lunch on Friday and help me get the rest up there. He's also going to help me organize, which is his forte......not mine. Let's just hope his bossiness doesn't cause a stink.

To bad they don't have a "new teacher registry" like they do for weddings and baby showers.

Here's what I need:
File cabinet
File folders
Portable file box
Collapsible crate on rollers
Office drawer tray
Thermal Laminateor
Desk calendar
Electric pencil sharpener
Clock
A sign for my door
Keyboard air blower thingy
Plastic file stacker thingy

Aunt Lucille is springing for the refrigerator, microwave and a new pair of shoes.
Mom and Dad have gotten me a nice desk chair.
Tobi gave me some gift cards for some teacher clothes and shoes.

I suppose I'm a lucky girl. :~)

Monday July 25, 2011

I'm in the process of creating a science year from the ground up, and I'll be honest, it's kicking my butt. I've made a great amount of progress the last week or so though. I've got a syllabus, some first few days ideas, about 10 boxes full of stuff to take into my classroom on Wednesday, and I've organized my online, Desktop, CD/DVD and paper/book resources. Well, I'm still working on that last part.

My next move is get my Wikispace for the classroom ready to launch and then start planning the first Unit on Atoms. Whew.

I met up with Lisa to workout yesterday. I got there ahead of time so I could run. I'm not good at talking when that's going on. I also got in some heavy racquetball playing.......by myself of course.

I FINALLY got to cook the steak-kabobs on the grill. They've been marinating for over a week. I figured they would have turned to mush by then, but they were still good. I love my grill but hate the sweating it takes to (wo)man it. By the time I'm done cooking, I need a shower.

Breakfast:
1/2 cinnamon raisin bagel with strawberry cream cheese
Bucket of coffee
Lunch:
Turkey sandwich
Snack:
Watermelon
Dinner:
Steak-kabob
Small baked potato with low fat sour cream and I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray
Dessert:
Granola Bar

Exercise:
Running: 15 minutes
Walking: 25 minutes
Racquetball: 25 minutes
Exercise bike: 10 minutes
Elliptical: 5 minutes

It felt so good to get running again today, although it always take me a good day of running to really get my muscles back to acting right.

I had steak laid out for supper, but Josh called with some "amazing" coupon for KFC (gag), so I gave in and let him go for it. I made some zucchini and instant taters to go with it.

Breakfast:
1/2 cinnamon raisin bagel with strawberry cream cheese
Lunch:
Turkey sandwich
Snack:
Cottage cheese with peache
Dinner:
KFC thigh with the crust pulled off
Instant mashed taters
Roasted zucchini

Dessert:
Banana and cherries

Thursday July 7, 2011

Yesterday mom and I went to the gym together. It's always nice to have someone there to glance over at and make the, "Oh my gosh, I'm dying face," and them actually respond. Most people (strangers) just look at me funny when I give them that look. I can't understand why.

I'm loving my new running shoes. They're my first pair of Nike's since the days of Mmmbop and back when Jessica Simpson still had hopes of a career. I also bought these heavenly inserts that make me feel like I'm running on clouds. Instead of my usual 2 miles with a mile on the elliptical, I was able to get in 3 running miles, which 'taint' to bad. I get 10 points for using the word 'taint' in a sentence.

Breakfast:
1/2 cinnamon raisin bagel
Bucket of coffee
Lunch:
Ruby Tuesday salad (lettuce, spinach, ham, peas, broccoli, zucchini, cheese, ranch)
small portion of broccoli and cheese soup
Snack:
Plum
Dinner:
Chicken burrito
Squash and corn salsa-ish type of thing
Dessert:
Plum

Exercise:
Racquetball - 45 minutes
Running - 25 minutes
Walking - 10 minutes
